Fogo De Chao, Las Vegas’ newest Brazilian Steakhouse, opened its doors to much fanfare, a city proclamation, more jobs to the local economy and a fun night of good service and food. Fogo De Chao is known worldwide as one of the top Brazilian Steakhouses for service and its quality of meat served. The newest Fogo De Chao is the 24th in the world to be opened and the 17 th in the United States.

When I first arrived, a large gathering of people were at the newly opened curved bar. Some steakhouse bars have an older feel but not at Fogo De Chao. This bar was well lit, had a cool curved seating area and plenty of staff to help out with the large crowd. Fogo De Chao’s bar is going to be an upscale place to meet friends or business associates. Since the restaurant is located inside of the Hughes Center business park, there will be plenty of opportunities for those folks to experience it.

About a half hour after arriving to the opening event, the ribbon cutting ceremony began with several people from Fogo De Chao’s management, chefs and a Las Vegas City commissioner. Each person standing next to the ribbon spoke about Fogo De Chao as a brand, their philosophy for running a restaurant and what it means to them for opening in Las Vegas.

After the ribbon was cut and everyone cheered, we were led into the dining room where waiters were wearing authentic South American Gaucho clothing. Gauchos are South American cattle ranchers and so when the wait staff comes around to the table with their swords of meat, everything together adds to the atmosphere and fun of the restaurant.

The steakhouse is setup as a premium buffet with a full salad bar. Once you are seated, you are given the option to choose from the salad bar, which has cheese and smoked salmon or you can flip your service card over.

Once the card is flipped, the servers are signaled to come around with many options of meat, direct to your table. When a server shows up, you are advised about the cut of meat available and are asked what temperature you would like. If the server has it they cut it right away. Then another server comes around and asks what sides you would like. They have many options for sides including a sweet banana dessert, bacon mashed potatoes, Italian polenta squares and warm bread.

Thanks to Fogo De Chao for the opening night invite, it was an enjoyable dinner. The service was spot on. Even with a completely full restaurant, the servers found moments to refill drinks without asking, which was nice.
