Grand City Hotel Planned For Downtown Las Vegas Wants City Approval

Grand City Hotel planned for Downtown Las Vegas wants city approval. This plan for a 61 story hotel in Downtown would be located at the corner of Grand Central Parkway and Charleston Boulevard.

The commercial real estate is located near the Union Park master plan to the north. Space included would be almost as much as the Las Vegas Convention Center with 2 million square feet.

The Office of Business Development likes the idea and the people behind the project. Approval of all items related to the proposal is recommended by the city planning staff.

The real estate development includes Craig Katchen, who was part of a project to the adjacent Grand Central location, in addition to the development and management firm of Merrill Group of Cos., with projects in Utah, Mesquite and Pahrump, NV.

The city says the Grand Central South Partners seems credible and are ready to go forward with strong backing.

They are going through the entitlement process for the Grand City Hotel. At this point, that is at the very beginning stages.

The hotel in Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada if approved, would contain 2,500 rooms in a 61 story hotel. A 260,000 square foot convention center and 11,100 square feet of retail are included in the plans. The Wynn Las Vegas hotel by comparison has 2,700 rooms with 50 stories. The Palazzo hotel on the strip has 3,000 rooms with 50 stories and a $1.9 billion price tag.
