Luxor Las Vegas Hotel Renovations By MGM Mirage Totaling $300 Million
Luxor Las Vegas hotel several year makeover by MGM Mirage Inc. has started. The Luxor pyramid hotel contains 4,400 rooms on the south Las Vegas Strip. MGM Mirage and its partners are investing almost $300 million to remodel 80 percent of the public areas. The remodel includes new restaurants and lounges, a new nightclub, a renovated casino floor, remodeled hotel rooms and a new Cirque du Soleil production.
The casino level has the first phase of renovation. Several major additions include a couple of lounges and restaurants and the LAX Las Vegas nightclub in place of the closed RA nightclub. There will be a new venue for a new Cirque du Soleil production featuring illusionist Criss Angel with an expected opening on the very lucky day 8/08/08.
New venues at the Luxor include Aurora and the Restore Pool Lounge. Aurora, located near the lobby, is a 157 seat lounge with a Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis, theme by Japanese design firm Super Potato. Later this month Restore Pool Lounge will open offering an adult upscale pool experience.
Expected fourth quarter opening will be three new venues operated and owned by Pure Management. Pure owns and operated several Strip venues including the Venus Pool Club at Caesars Palace, Pussycat Dolls Lounge and PURE Nightclub. Venues at the Luxor will include the Company American Bistro, Noir Bar and LAX Las Vegas nightclub totaling 45,000 square foot.
Celebrity guest DJ AM and Christina Aguilera are partnering with Pure on the 26,000 square foot nightclub. Nick Lachey, Nicky Hilton and Wilmer Valerrama are joint partners in the Company, 10,000 square foot American bistro. Noir Bar will be a chic speakeasy adorned with crystal and leather that will cater to private parties. The bar and nightclub are expected to open on Labor Day and the restaurant in October.
This fall the CatHouse Las Vegas, a modern lounge and restaurant interpretation of a 19th century French bordello, Liquidity, a Super Potato designed venue featuring three separate areas draped in water around a bar. Flight, a 40 seat bar, next to LAX nightclub will open, too.
Opening later 2008, 8/08/08, will be the new Cirque du Soleil show. Also next year will be the remodeled casino and Luxor Steak House with a water theme. Starting in 2008 will be changes to the galleria areas and property’s atrium, with retail changes. In 2009 the hotel rooms will be remodeled. Source: Globe St.
