Nestled conveniently at the north end of Stratosphere’s casino floor, McCall’s Heartland Grill opens for lunch and dinner on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 11am inside Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower.

“We took the best of the Midwest and added a touch of the coast,” said Stratosphere Executive Chef Rick Giffen, who created the menu, concept, theme and feel of McCall’s Heartland Grill alongside Stratosphere Vice President of Food & Beverage Matthew Mascali. “We put the thrill back into dining at a grill by combining traditional steak and seafood favorites with delicious new flavor combinations.”

Guests can begin their meal with savory starters like the Braised Beef Short Rib Sliders served with a tart Green Apple Horseradish Slaw ($10); Blue Corn Crusted Lollipop Chicken Wings with a sweet and spicy Watermelon Buffalo Sauce and tangy Blue Cheese Dressing ($10); or a P B B & J Crostini, a kicked up childhood favorite featuring a lightly toasted baguette slathered with creamy peanut butter, crispy bacon, blue cheese and a dollop of jalapeno jelly ($8).

Hearty sized entrees include selections “From the Pasture”, featuring 100% natural beef from Harris Ranch Cattle raised on the grassy hillsides of Southern California, like the Coffee Rubbed Center Cut ¾ lb. New York Strip with creamy Blue Cheese Butter ($29); Pepper Crusted ½ lb. Filet of Beef served with McCall’s Smoked Cheddar Potato Croquettes and Sauce Poivre ($31); or the Grilled Choice 1lb. Porterhouse Steak with tender Caramelized Onions ($30).

Other entrees include the Chili Roasted St. Louis Ribs with crispy Potato Straws and Cilantro Pesto ($23) or the Smoked Teriyaki Grilled Semi-Boneless Half Chicken served with Grilled Pineapple and Tempura Maui Onion ($19).

“From the Pond” entrees include Blackened Hawaiian Ono served with Roasted Pineapple and Mango Salsa ($26); Potato Crusted Scottish Salmon with Citrus Chive Butter ($23); or Market Fresh Fish & Chips with Lime Dusted Sweet Potato Fries and Spiced Tarter Sauce ($19).

McCall’s menu also contains creative twists on traditional steakhouse sides, like Creamed Spinach with Roasted Poblano Chilis, Grilled Lobster Risotto Cake, Lime Dusted Sweet Potato Fries and Wild Mushroom Cassolette with Horseradish Butter. Original salads and homemade soups like the chef’s Blackened Corn and Beef Tenderloin Chowder ($9) round out the menu.

Lunch Specials include such favorites as a Chargrilled Steak Sandwich with Grilled Artichoke Hearts and Tobacco Onion Straws ($16); Ground Chuck Steakburger with Smoked Cheddar and Bacon ($14); Rancher’s Grilled Porkloin Sandwich with Green Apple Horseradish Slaw ($13); or a Grilled Lobster Cake Sandwich with Chili Tartar Sauce ($15).

McCall’s Heartland Grill features a full service bar, a wine list designed by Dean Wachstetter, Sommelier from Top Of The World, and a wine nook, where dining guests can sample the featured wine of the day. The 153-seat dining room includes a private dining room that is perfect for intimate meetings or special occasions, for parties of up to twenty guests.

A daily happy hour will be served from 4pm to 6pm, with appetizer specials, half price featured bottles of wine, flutes of champagne and mimosas for $2, and $3 well drinks.

The opening of McCall’s Heartland Grill is part of an ongoing re-imagination of the iconic property. Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower unveiled a sweeping $20 million renovation in January 2011 that included more than 900 newly remodeled “Stratosphere Select” guest rooms, updates to the casino floor, a new VIP area and valet off Las Vegas Boulevard. Less than a year later, the property introduced a new headline show Frankie Moreno Live at Stratosphere and revamped its 336-seat second floor theater.

For reservations, visit StratosphereHotel.com, or call (702) 380-7777 or 800-99-TOWER (998-6937).

McCall’s Heartland Grill is open seven days a week. Dinner is served 11am to 11pm. Lunch Specials are served 11am to 4pm.
