The amount of departures and arrivals at McCarran International were approximately 3.9 million.  Year to date totals for passenger traffic through June, 2008 was 22.9 million.

The top five airline carriers showed declines for passenger traffic including Southwest Airlines.  The number one airline in Las Vegas is Southwest which was the only domestic airline making a net profit.

To become more cost efficient Southwest over the past year has eliminated schedule that didn’t make them a profit.  Their percentage of capacity was 78 percent in June, a decline of 4 percent.

With the smallest decline of Las Vegas visitors through McCarran Airport, Southwest shuttled 1.4 million passengers.

The second largest carrier in Las Vegas, US Airways, brought a total year to date of 680,000 passengers or a decline of 21.9 percent to Vegas. For the month of June a 18.6 percent decline of Las Vegas passenger.  The carrier expects to cut half of its flights compared to fall of 2007 due to double fuel charges.

Both Midwest Airlines and JetBlue carrier had passenger increases, a 12.7 percent and 11 percent respectively.

Allegiant Airlines, Las Vegas based, was another airline in departures and arrivals of 164,000 passengers or 4.4 percent increase.
